Faculty Athletic Representative

The Faculty Athletic Representative at Birmingham-Southern College is appointed by the Provost Office. He/She will work closely with the Senior Woman Adminstrator throughout the year. Both will meet at the beginning of each academic year and throughout the year as needed. The FAR’s primary responsibility is to facilitate communication between the faculty and coaches, student athletes and with the athletic department.

The FAR will be instrumental in leading the Athletic Liaison Program in conjunction with the SWA. The team liaisons and head coaches will meet with the FAR and SWA at the beginning of each academic year to make introductions and discuss the upcoming year and how each can be helpful to the other.

Athletic Liaison Program

The BSC Faculty Athletic Liaison program is a unique and personal relationship between the academic and athletic programs.  Its goals are to provide a bridge of communication and participation between coaches, faculty and student athletes, to provide another level of support for student athletes in balancing the demands of academics and athletics, to enhance student retention, and to support individual teams through the kind of personal relationships BSC values.
