Kyle Southall, originally from Roseville, Ohio, joined the Birmingham-Southern Athletic Training staff in August of 2012 as an Assistant Athletic Trainer. In June of 2013 he began his tenure as Head Athletic Trainer. Kyle's primary coverage responsibilities are: football, men's basketball, and baseball. Kyle is a nationally certified athletic trainer by the NATABOC and is licensed by the Alabama Board of Athletic Trainers. Kyle is a certified CPR/AED instructor through the American Red Cross. He also assists in the strength and conditioning of a variety of athletes on campus.
Kyle is a 2010 graduate of Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, with a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training. He did his post-graduate work at West Virginia University, where he received a Master's of Science of Athletic Training in 2012. During his two years at WVU, Kyle was a graduate assistant athletic trainer covering football, men's basketball, and baseball at Waynesburg University in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania. Kyle was also an adjunct professor in the athletic training and sports science department at Waynesburg University. Also while at WVU Kyle became level-1 Graston trained and became a certified Performance Enhancement Specialist through the National Academy of Sports Medicine.
Kyle spends his summers working with athletes of all ages from umpiring local little league baseball games to working with professional football and baseball athletes and teams at their respective camps.
In his free time Kyle enjoys running and being a weekend warrior softball and flag football player. Kyle also likes to spend time with his family, fishing, and traveling.
