Jennifer Jones joined the Birmingham-Southern athletics administration in June of 2016. Prior to that, she spent time working as a game day specialist in the greater Birmingham area covering events at the HS and college level. Her experience includes being the director of communications for the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC), one of the premier Historically Black College and University conferences in the country.
At the SWAC, Jones was responsible for overseeing the league's public and media relations program as well as managing the SWAC Digital Network, general sports information needs and assisting with championship events.
Jones also served as director of sports information at Juniata College in Huntingdon, Pa. During her time there, she was responsible for the athletic communications of 19 NCAA Division III programs and was the media coordinator for the Division III men's volleyball national championship.
She began her career at University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) in Princess Anne, Md. as a sports information assistant, before serving as a graduate assistant at the University of the Pacific (Stockton, Calif.) where she pursued a master's in sports management while working in the media relations and marketing departments.
With the Tigers, Jones initiated a plan to enhance the video production department and was instrumental in marketing the women's basketball team's first sell out game in program history. She also spent time at Fresno State working in external relations with the athletic communication and video departments before going to Juniata.
She is a 2006 graduate of Hood College in Frederick, Md. where she competed in volleyball, basketball and softball. Jones earned all-conference honors in multiple sports and was a member of the 2006 softball conference championship team. She currently resides in Hoover, Ala.
