Sheri S. Salmon, a native of Vestavia Hills, Ala., was named BSC's Assistant Athletic Director for Academic Services in August 2014. She serves as a liaison between athletics and admissions in the recruitment of student athletes. She also works closely with the retention team at BSC and assists with fund raising for the athletic department.
Salmon graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Birmingham-Southern College in 1985 and started her first job as Assistant Director of Admission for the College. Since then, she has served as Dean of Enrollment Management and most recently as Associate Vice President for Admission. She served the Admission Office for 29 years before moving to the Athletic Office.
Salmon played collegiate tennis for BSC from 1981-1985 and led Birmingham-Southern to four consecutive District 27 Championships and advanced to the NAIA National Tournament all four years. Salmon played No. 1 doubles each year and was District Champion at No. 5 singles both her junior and senior years. She led the tennis team to national rankings of ninth her freshman year, seventh her sophomore year, 12th her junior year, and eighth in the nation as a senior.
Salmon's win-loss record was impressive with a 15-1 record in singles her sophomore year and a doubles record of 12-5 that same year. She posted her best record as a senior by winning 20 matches in singles and losing 2. Salmon earned NAIA All American Honors and in 1996 was inducted into the Birmingham-Southern College Sports Hall of Fame.
Salmon lives in Vestavia Hills with her husband Mark, and their children, Samantha and Hunter.
