Coyne Named Second-Team All-RegionBIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Senior Dallas Coyne (Vestavia Hills, Ala./Vestavia Hills HS) picked up another postseason honor. The defender was named second-team all-south region by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Coyne was one of three Southern Athletic Association student-athletes recognized, and the only on second team.
Panther Profile: Laura Van PeursemBIRMINGHAM, Ala.- Senior Laura Van Peursem (Huntsville, Ala./Randolph School) is a hardworking, determined, and goal-oriented individual. She is a two-sport student-athlete at Birmingham-Southern College while majoring in biology with a psychology minor. A four-year starter and three-time all-conference volleyball player, Van Peursem is also a four-year starter and all-conference basketball player.

Watkins Special Teams POTY, Four Named All-ConferenceBIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern football team saw four named to Southern Athletic Association All-Conference teams Tuesday. Junior Jamal Watkins (Hampton, Ga./Dodge City CC) was named SAA Special Teams Player of the Year for the second consecutive season. He finished the season 445 kick return yards, averaging 107.6 per game, and was one of the league’s leading scorers among non-kickers.

White named New Head Football CoachBIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Tony Joe White has been named the new Birmingham-Southern College head football coach, Director of Athletics Kyndall Waters announced Monday. He becomes the sixth head coach in program history, and third since the program resumed in 2007 at the NCAA Division III level. White was most recently the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Centre College.
