    Panthers Complete Comeback, Advance to Semifinals BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern men’s basketball team erased a 17-point first half deficit to come back and defeat Oglethorpe University 62-59 in the Southern Athletic Association tournament quarterfinals Friday night. BSC (13-13) will take on #2 seed Centre College in the second semifinal on Saturday, Feb. 25 at 6 p.m. for a chance to defend their tournament title.

    SAA Tournament: Panthers Move on to Semis BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern women’s basketball team advanced to the semifinals of the 2017 Southern Athletic Association tournament after fending off Rhodes College 59-51 in game one. BSC (16-10) will play Oglethorpe University at 4 p.m. Saturday afternoon for a chance to defend their title.

    Four Panthers Named All-Conference BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Four Birmingham-Southern men’s basketball players were named to Southern Athletic Association All-Conference teams Friday. Ian Thom (Cold Spring, N.Y./Croton-Harmon HS) and Harrison Deneka (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) earned second-team honors for their performance this season.

    Olsen Newcomer of the Year, Ricks Coach of the Year BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Birmingham-Southern women’s basketball saw four Panthers recognized on Southern Athletic Association All-Conference teams headlined by SAA Newcomer of the Year Emilee Olsen (Marietta, Ga./Lassiter HS). Head Coach Mike Ricks was named coach of the year for leading the panthers to their second consecutive SAA regular season title.

    Panthers Host 2017 SAA Women’s Basketball Tournament BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – After repeating as Southern Athletic Association regular season champions, the Birmingham-Southern women’s basketball team will host the leagues postseason tournament for the second consecutive year. BSC welcomes seven teams to the Bill Battle Coliseum this Friday, Feb. 24 as they vie for the 2017 tournament title and bid to the NCAA tournament.

    Back-to-Back Champions: Women Win 2017 Title BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern women’s basketball team cut the nets Saturday afternoon in Bill Battle Coliseum after successfully defending their 2016 title and becoming the 2017 Southern Athletic Association regular season champions. The Panthers defeated Millsaps College 73-66 to finish first in the league and earn the No. 1 seed for the upcoming conference tournament.

    No. 5 Panthers Win Third in a Row BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – For the second straight game, No. 5 Birmingham-Southern baseball had a home run in Striplin Field. The Panthers used a big third inning to defeat Concordia (TX) 8-2 and improve to 5-1 on the year. BSC has now won three straight and are currently 2-0 at home.

    Panthers Win 74-58 Over Millsaps on Senior Day BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Seniors Evan Lewis (Birmingham, Ala./Ramsay HS) and Ian Thom (Cold Spring, N.Y./Croton-Harmon HS) led the Panthers to a 74-58 win in their final regular season game of the season. BSC (12-13, 8-6 SAA) will be the No. 3 seed in the Southern Athletic Association tournament next weekend.

    No. 13 BSC Unable to Hold Off Texas Lutheran, Drops Home Series BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Savannah Lee (Lascassas, Tenn./Oakland HS) went 4-for-6 including a home run and a double on the day to lead the No. 13 Birmingham-Southern softball team against Texas Lutheran. But the Panthers could not string together runs and fell 7-5 and 4-1 Saturday to move to 2-4 overall.

    Men and Women Win Sewanee Indoor Invite SEWANEE, Tenn. – Both Birmingham-Southern men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams finished first at the Sewanee Indoor Invitational Friday afternoon. The men outscored second place finisher Oglethorpe by 76 points, finishing with 167 team points. The women finished 16 points ahead of Emory to earn the win with 148 team points.

    Weinacker Named SAA Student-Athlete of the Week ATLANTA – The SAA released the first men's tennis Player of the Week for the spring season and, following voting by the league head coaches, Jacob Weinacker (Birmingham, Ala./Mountain Brook HS) of Birmingham-Southern won the honor after getting off to a torrid start this season.

    Big Ninth Inning Leads No. 5 Panthers Over LaGrange LAGRANGE, Ga. – The No. 5 Birmingham-Southern baseball team used a big ninth inning to pull out an 8-5 road win over LaGrange College Tuesday evening. With the score tied 5-5 after the seventh inning, the Panthers put up three runs in the top of the ninth to earn the win and improve to 3-1 overall on the year.

    #ThreePeat: Men’s Swimming 2017 SAA Champions BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern men’s swimming and diving team dominated competition this week at the 2017 Southern Athletic Association Championships to win their third consecutive league title. The Panthers set a new SAA team points record with 1.013.5, which was 271 points ahead of second place finisher Centre College.

    Women Win 2017 SAA Championship BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern women’s swimming and diving team reclaimed the Southern Athletic Association team title Saturday night after outscoring the second place finisher by 57 points. This is their second conference championship, and first since 2014. Head Coach Toby Wilcox earned SAA Coach of the Year after the win.

    Walk-off Single Downs No. 5 Panthers at Piedmont DEMOREST, Ga. – The No. 5 Birmingham-Southern baseball team dropped its first game of the season 4-3 Sunday evening on the road at Piedmont College. The Lions hit a two-out, walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth to earn the win. BSC is now 2-1 on the year. Piedmont moved to 4-1 overall.

    OT Free Throw Hands Panthers 59-58 Loss MOUNT BERRY, Ga. – A free-throw with no time on the clock determined Sunday’s winner in a battle between Birmingham-Southern women’s basketball and Berry College. The Panthers fell 59-58 in overtime on the road to move to 14-10 overall, 10-4 in Southern Athletic Association play.
