Harris becomes all-time kills leader as Volleyball splits on day two of SCAC Central/West Divisional

CONWAY, Ark. – With 17 kills in the Birmingham-Southern volleyball team’s match today against No. 15 Trinity University, senior Sarah Harris became the program’s all-time kills leader, passing the previous mark of 1,541 set by Rachel Malmborg, who played from 2001-2004. The Panthers lost to Trinity today, 3-1, but swept Rhodes College, 3-0, moving to 10-10 on the season.

The Panthers lost to the Tigers by the scores of 25-21, 20-25, 15-25, 18-25. Harris led with 17 kills, junior Christine Denning led with 37 assists, and junior Jennifer McKannan led with 24 digs.

BSC defeated Rhodes by the scores of 25-12, 25-19, 25-20. Statistical leaders were freshman Shelby Moore with 10 kills, Denning with 26 assists, McKannan with 11 digs, and sophomore Haley Johnson with four service aces and three blocks.

The Panthers travel to California next weekend for their next four matches, taking on Occidental College, Cal Lutheran University, University of La Verne, and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in the CLU Fall Classic in Thousand Oaks, Calif.
