JACKSON, Miss. - The BSC Women's Soccer team traveled to Jackson tonight for a nightcap at Millsaps and came away with the 2-0 victory over the Majors. The win improves the Panthers to 9-6 on the year.
Lydia Rice got things started offensively early in the 22nd-minute thanks to a penalty kick. The second goal came just five minutes later when Sara Menton broke out of the pack and bested the Majors' keeper with the assist from Serena Murphy.
The stats were even on the night, even if the goals were not. BSC out-shot Millsaps 8-7, but the Majors held the edge in on-goal shots at 3-2. Amber Hernandez collected the three saves in the shutout.
Coach Walton was pleased with his team's execution on the road. "It is always good to get a win on the road, especially at a place as tough as Millsaps. They are a very tough, hard working team and I could not be prouder of our effort."
BSC will return to BSC Soccer Park on Tuesday for a non-conference match with the Maryville College Scots. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. back on the Hilltop.
