Women's golf finishes second in rain-shortened invitational

SANTA ROSA BEACH, Fla. -
The Birmingham-Southern women golfers finished in second place at the 2009 Santa Rosa Beach Invitational, hosted by Huntingdon College.

The Panthers finished with a combined 337 for the two rounds, five strokes back of Invitational winner Spring Hill.

Jennifer Commander posted the best BSC scores, shooting 42 and 38 for a two-round 80, landing her in third place individually.

Gaukhar Amandassova finished in a tie for fifth at 83, Ashley Lovell and Michelle Morris tied for tenth at 87, and Marissa Gacek rounded out the Panther tally in 12th place with an 88 for the two rounds.

The play was scheduled to continue this morning, but was rained out.

The Panthers will travel to Tunica, Mississippi on October 19 and 20 to participate in their final tournament of the Fall season when they tee-off in the Rhodes College Invitational at Tunica National.
