Men's Soccer plays to 1-1 tie with No. 12 Trinity

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern men’s soccer team played to a 1-1 draw with No. 12 Trinity University, Friday evening at BSC Soccer Park, to move to 8-2-1 on the season. Trinity moves to 7-1-2 with the tie.

Neither team scored in the first half, but Trinity finally found the back of the net in the 48th minute of play on an unassisted goal by Josh Adams.

BSC remained scoreless until the 81st minute when freshman Nicholas Reitmeier sent a long ball up from midfield to freshman Kyle Sherrin, who scored his second goal of the season to tie things up.

The teams played through the remainder of regulation as well as two 10-minute overtime periods without scoring again.

Freshman Clint Lum spent all 110 minutes in the net for BSC and made five saves. For Trinity, Patrick Johnson also played the duration of the game, recording two saves.

Trinity doubled BSC’s shots, 20-10, led by Joseph DeCosta, Ben Grossman, and Aaron Olson with three apiece. Junior Tony Crocker led the Panthers with three shots.

The Panthers are back on the pitch this Sunday, Oct. 11, taking on Southwestern University at 11 a.m. at BSC Soccer Park.
