BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -
The Birmingham-Southern men's soccer team dropped their final conference match of the season today, 2-1 to Austin College.  The Panthers are now 11-5-2 heading into their final match of the 2009 season on Friday.

The 'Roos got on the board first, in the 29th-minute, when Luis Castillo grabbed an unassisted goal on a ball that got away from BSC keeper Clint Lum.  The Panthers answered in the 38th thanks to a corner kick from Andrew Shelton who set the ball up for Tyler Evans in front of the Austin net.  The two teams took the 1-1 tie into the halftime.

The game remained knotted at one goal apiece deep into the second half, but a late surge from Castillo, this time assisted from Alex Dawson, allowed the 'Roos to come away with the 2-1 victory over the Panthers.

The Panthers will wrap up the 2009 season this Friday, November 13 as they host Berry College for a 7:00 p.m. match at BSC Soccer Park.  As it is the final home match of the season, BSC will honor Scott Shelton and Stephen Rumble before the match.
