BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -
The men's lacrosse team fell tonight to the visiting Alfred University Saxons 6-3 at Panther Stadium.  The loss drops the men to 1-4 on the season.

Alfred scored two goals in the first quarter within a minute of each other to firmly take a lead they would not relinquish.  Christopher Buechele did get the Panthers on the board as the quarter closed with an unassisted goal with 53 seconds to play.

The second quarter was all Saxon.  Alfred tacked on two more in the period to go up 4-1 on the Panthers.  One goal apiece in the third and fourth quarters kept the lead steady in the second half.  Jacob McPherson scored in the third with 2:26 remaining.  Dylan Krupa got the Panthers' third and final goal in the fourth with just over ten minutes to play, also unassisted.

The Panthers were outshot 35-25 on the night.  They did manage to recover more ground balls, 37-33, but they also had the same margin in turnovers.  BSC's goalies pulled in ten saves on the night to Alfred's eight, with Cameron Overton playing the lion's share of the minutes (51:44) with eight saves.  Ben Jacob saw eight minutes and collected the other two saves for the Panthers.

The Panthers will return to Panther Stadium this weekend to host Washington & Jefferson Universtiy for a 7:00 p.m. match on Saturday night.
