DANVILLE, Ky. -
The Birmingham-Southern softball team swept Centre College on the road, Saturday, winning by the scores of 7-0 and 9-0 to move to 23-3 on the season. Centre drops to 4-20 with the two losses. The two teams will face each other again tomorrow in a noon ET doubleheader.

In game one, junior Jena Franks was 3-4 at the plate, and senior Melissa Muehlenfeld and freshman Ashley Bice were 2-4. The Panthers scored four runs in the first inning, one in the second, one in the fourth, and one in the seventh. Freshman Ronni Ferris picked up the win in the circle after throwing seven innings and giving up three hits with five strikeouts in the shutout, her third on the season.

In the second game, junior Tori Harris was an impressive 4-4 at the plate for BSC, while Muehlenfeld, Franks, and senior Kayla Backlund were all 2-4. Franks led with four RBI, including a two courtesy of a home run in the top of the third inning. Muehlenfeld was the winning pitcher, moving to 10-2 on the season after allowing only two hits with eight strikeouts in six innings of work. It was also her fourth shutout on the year.
