Women's Lacrosse caps off inaugural season with 18-6 win over Dallas

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Sophomore Brit La Palm and freshman Lyndsay Griffin led the Birmingham-Southern women's lacrosse team with four goals apiece, Saturday, to help the Panthers to an 18-6 victory over the University of Dallas in BSC's final game of the season. The Panthers even their record at 6-6 with the win.
Freshman Katie Gregory scored first for BSC, but Dallas came back to score twice before a goal from freshman Alexis Sweda tied things up 2-2. Dallas scored again to go up 3-2, but the Panthers scored three - one apiece from La Palm, freshman Katelyn Carroll, and freshman Chelsea Van Voorhis - to take back the lead, 5-3.
Dallas cut it to 5-4, but the Panthers answered with five straight goals to close out the half: one from Griffin, one from Sweda, and three straight from La Palm, putting BSC up 10-4 at the half.
In the second half, BSC scored eight more times and held Dallas to only two goals for the eventual 18-6 victory.
Freshman goalkeeper Katie Bates made four saves for the Panthers. Van Voorhis and Griffin led with six shots apiece, and Griffin led with seven ground balls.
BSC led in shots, 29-15, and ground balls, 33-21, while committing only nine turnovers to Dallas' 23. Draw controls were even at 13 apiece.
