Nick Blakely wins second straight ASU Fall Classic

MONTGOMERY, Ala. -
The Birmingham-Southern men's golf team had a strong showing at this year's ASU Fall Classic, finishing second out of the 13 team field.  Senior Nick Blakely finished first in the individual competition, marking his second career individual win and the second in a row at the ASU Classic.

Blakely finished four under par at 140 for both days to beat out Spring HIll's Javier Portal by one stroke for the win.  The other four BSC players showed well also, Clay Bounds finished two over in a four-way tie for tenth place.  Matt Kelley and Matthew Barnes were two strokes behind Bounds in a four-way tie for 17th.  And, Josh Rabbit finished two strokes behind them at six over in a four-way tie for 27th.

Coach Jason Buha was proud of how his team performed, "I am really proud of the way all five players played.  Nick had a great tournament and the other four guys really played well.  The focus of this team is really sharpening.  I think that this week is just the beginning of what is going to be a strong year for them.  I am proud of their effort".

he Panthers will be on the road again this weekend, as they travel to Tunica, Mississippi for the Rhodes College Fall Classic. on Sunday and concluding Monday.
