BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - After one round of play at the 'Southern Shootout at Highland Park Golf Course in Birmingham, junior Ashley Lovell is tied for first place with a score of 71, and the Birmingham-Southern women's golf team is in second place with a 309, nine strokes behind No. 17 Division II team West Florida.

West Florida's Bhavna Shetty is also in first place after carding a 71 today, followed by Jayne Curtis of Berry College and AnnMarie Coan of Spring Hill College tied for third with 73. In a four-way tie for fifth place with a score of 75 are Montevallo's Emily Gibson, Mobile's Maegan Rice, Jackson State's Erica Payton, and Shorter's Greta Lange.

Jackson State stands at third place in the team rankings with a score of 314, followed by Berry and Mobile with 318.

Sophomore Jennifer Commander is second for BSC and tied for 12th overall after shooting 77, followed by sophomore Gaukhar Amandassova at 18th overall with a score of 80.

The second and final round of the Shootout will tee off with a shotgun start tomorrow morning at 8 a.m.
