GEORGETOWN, Texas -
The Panthers overcame a ten-point half time deficit tonight to get the SCAC road win, 67-59, over the Southwestern University Pirates.  The win gives BSC the split on their Texas road trip and improves them to 16-3 overall and 8-3 in the SCAC.

The Panthers shooting was again a problem early on.  The Pirates took advantage of BSC's 32-percent first half shooting to build their lead to double-digits twice in the period.  Southwestern took their second ten-point lead into the break, 35-25.

With another lackluster half of shooting putting them behind for the second-straight night, the Panthers responded.  They went from 9-of-28 in the first half to 14-of-24 in the second to overtake the Pirates down the stretch.

BSC opened the half outscoring Southwestern 14-4 with Kevin Kegarise hitting a three at 14:45 to tie the score at 39.

The game continued back-and-forth over the next nine minutes A Pirate foul shot tied the game for the fourth time of the night at 53 with 5:30 remaining, but this time the Panthers would not be denied their comeback.

'Southern went on a game-ending 14-6 run to put the win in the books. It was not all smooth sailing, the Pirates did cut the lead back down to three with 1:49 remaining, but the Panthers scored the last five points of the game at the foul line to reach the final margin.

The Panthers were led by Jasen Jonus with 12 points.  Aaron Parr added 10.  Mark Messenger posted nine points and a game-leading eight rebounds.  Southwestern did out-rebound the Panthers 32-29 on the night, but BSC converted their boards into 18 second-chance points while the Pirates only managed to put back three. The Panther bench outscored Southwestern's 34-15 for the game.

BSC will return to the Hilltop Hardwood this Friday as the Panthers host Oglethorpe University, resuming East Division play.  Game time is scheduled 8:00 p.m.  The Panthers will try to avenge the 71-67 loss to the Petrels in Atlanta back on New Year's Day.
