MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Birmingham-Southern Panthers defeated the Rhodes Lynx 100-62 this evening at Mallory Gymnasium in Memphis. The win improves the Panthers to 11-1 overall and 4-1 in conference play. The Lynx fall to 6-7 and 1-4 in the SCAC.

The first half started close, the Lynx held a 26-23 lead with just under nine minutes in the half. The Panthers put the game out of reach over the next nine minutes, spanning both halves on a 29-7.

The Panthers closed the game strong, holding Rhodes to just 29 points in the second half. They shot 62 percent from the floor and 56 percent from three. The Lynx, by contrast, shot just 39 and 29 percent respectively. 

BSC was led in scoring by Jasen Jonus with 18 points, Patrick Price with 17, Aaron Parr with 15, and Kevin Kegarise with 14. Rhodes was paced by Brad Luckett and Reid Hamilton, each with 12 points. The Panthers edged the Lynx on the boards, 34-31, including 23-15 on the Lynx’s end of the court.

The Panthers will return home this Tuesday, January 12, for their final non-conference game of the season as they host Atlanta Christian. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in Bill Battle Coliseum.
