BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Birmingham-Southern Track and Field Head Coach Kenneth Cox announced today the addition of two more commitments for the 2010-11 season, as Hank Ballard and CiCi Howell have completed their intent to enroll in the college and compete next year.

Cox believes that both athletes will make an immediate impact for the Panthers, and have a good chance to post top marks in the SCAC.

Ballard, who currently attends Hoover High School, will compete for the Panthers in the pole vault and javelin. With personal records of 14’ in the vault and 163’1” in the javelin, Ballard would already rank in the top three in the SCAC in both events.

Howell, a long jumper and sprinter out of John Carroll Catholic High School, whose personal best in the long jump is 16’10”, is also coming in as a top-five performer in the SCAC.

“Both Hank and CiCi are top-notch athletes who have a great upside in that they have a good bit of growth to do in the technical events,” Assistant Coach Brad Smith said. “They are athletes we are excited to watch grow and develop over the next four years and will continue to strengthen our sprints and jumps teams respectfully,” Coach Cox added.
