BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Birmingham-Southern freshman centerfielder J.D. Hulse of Roswell, Ga., has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Player-of-the-Week for games played through Sunday, March 16 according to the Conference’s weekly release.
Hulse went 6-for-11 with six runs scored, a triple, a home run and four RBI from the leadoff spot over the weekend. He had a 1.000 slugging percentage and a .615 on base percentage along with 11 total bases and three stolen bases in three attempts.
He went 1-for-2 with a single and three-runs scored and walked twice in a 12-6 win in game one of a SCAC doubleheader with Centre College on Sunday. In game two, he was 4-for-5 with three singles, a three-run home run, four RBI and two runs scored. His three-run home run highlighted a four-run sixth to help BSC end the game due to the NCAA 10-run rule. Hulse leads BSC with a .397 average, 21 runs scored and is 12-for-12 in stolen bases.
