MOBILE, Ala. -- Spring Hill College swept a doubleheader from Birmingham-Southern on Sunday, winning game one 10-0 and holding on for a 7-5 win in the night cap at Stan Galle Field.
Nick Clapper (2-0) pitched a two-hit shutout in game one, striking out six with three walks for Spring Hill. Drew Crofton was saddled with the loss, lasting 1/3 of inning while giving up five runs on four hits.
Brandon Ricco and J.D. Hulse collected hits for BSC in game one.
The Panthers held a 5-3 in game two before Spring Hill scored four runs in the sixth to earn the 7-5 win.
BSC took a 3-0 lead scoring a run in the first three innings. J.D. Hulse scored on a ground out in the first and Reed Tuttle scored on a sac-fly in the second. Brandon Ricco doubled and scored on a Sam Hill RBI single in the third.
Spring Hill would tie the game 3-3 in the fourth before the Panthers reclaimed a 5-3 lead in the fifth. Hulse scored on a sac-fly and Darby Weppner came home on a passed ball.
Todd Kline (1-0) pitched 1 2/3 innings with two strikeouts to get the win. Patrick Martin (0-1) gave up two runs on three hits in the sixth inning to take the loss.
Birmingham-Southern returns to the diamond for a doubleheader against Maryville College on Saturday at 1 p.m. in Maryville, Tenn.
