Tough sledding for Diamond Panthers at Huntingdon College

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Huntingdon College (3-10) scored three runs in the bottom of seventh to rally for a 10-9 win over Birmingham-Southern (7-7) in game two of a doubleheader. The Hawks claimed a 10-9 win in game one.
The Panthers trailed 7-6 before a three-run sixth inning gave BSC a 9-7 lead. J.D. Hulse, who was 3-for-4 with two runs scored, led off the inning with single and after stealing second scored on a Drew Leachman single to tie the game. Leachman, who was also 3-for-4 in game two, came around on Sam Hill’s two-run home run to set up the seventh inning.
Chad Anderson tripled in a run and Kyle Eller doubled home a run to tie the game in the bottom of the seventh for Huntingdon. Judson Sullivan’s sac-fly plated the game winning run.
Scott Holloway, 2-1, recorded the second win of the day for HC, allowing no runs on one hit in 1 1/3 innings. Alex Goodsell, 2-2, gave up three runs on three hits with two strikeouts to take the loss for BSC.
In game one, Hill singled home Reed Tuttle in the first to give BSC a 1-0 lead before Huntingdon scored a run in the bottom of the first and second innings to take a 2-1 lead.
The Panthers took a 3-2 lead in the fifth. Drew Leachman scored on a wild pitch and Hill scored on a Patrick Kimmons’ ground out.
Huntingdon scored two runs in the sixth take a 4-3 lead before breaking the game open with a five-run seventh for a 9-3 advantage..
Clay Malcolm, 2-2, suffered the loss, giving up seven runs on seven hits with two strikeouts in the four innings of work. Holloway picked the win, pitching four innings and allowing no runs on one hit with four strikeouts.
Birmingham-Southern hosts Centre College for a four game series, starting with a single game on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Striplin Field. The series continues with a doubleheader on Sunday at 1 p.m. and a single game on Monday at 6 p.m
