Diamond Panthers to open two-game series against Sewanee on Saturday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.  – Birmingham-Southern baseball will play its first Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference game when The University of the South-Sewanee visits Striplin Field for a two-game series on Saturday.  The Panthers and Tigers are scheduled to play a single game on Saturday at 2 p.m. and conclude the series on Sunday at 12:30 p.m.

BSC enters the weekend with a 3-3 record after splitting a doubleheader against Maryville last weekend. This will be the season opener for the Tigers from Sewanee, Tenn.

Richard Vance (1-0) is the game one probable starting pitcher for BSC. Vance has a 6.52 ERA with five strikeouts in two starts this season. Reed Tuttle leads BSC with a .571 average, five runs scored and four steals.
