BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Birmingham-Southern (15-4) Panthers got one back today from the visiting Wisconsin-Platteville Pioneers, 12-1, in a full nine at Striplin Field.
The Panthers opened up with six runs in the bottom of the first to put this one away early. The Pioneers had no answer for the stout Panther attack until the fifth inning when they scored their lone run of the contest. BSC, on the other hand, scored in four of their eight innings at the plate including four in the fourth to split the two-game series with Platteville.
#Brian Higginbotham# led the way offensively for the Panthers with four RBIs in the game. He accounted for two of the Panthers' 14 hits on the night, including a triple in the first that drove in three and a single in the fourth for one run.
#Michael McCalib# earned his second win of the season in five innings of work, holding the Pioneers to just one run on two hits, he struck-out two. Kyle Mack took the loss for Platteville in three innings, taking all 12 Panther runs.
BSC will return to the diamond tomorrow afternoon for a 4:00 p.m. start with Tennessee Temple University. They will then be off until the 27th when they return to SCAC-play, hosting Oglethorpe University for a weekend series.
