Panthers close season with another split at Greensboro

Game 1 | Game 2

GREENSBORO, N.C. -
The Birmingham-Southern baseball team closed out its most successful season since joining Division III this afternoon with a split against Greensboro College.  The Panthers won game one 11-4 before falling in game two 3-1.  BSC finishes the season with a 28-11 record, besting last season's mark by eight games.

The Panthers put runs up in five of game one's seven innings to take the first game of the double-header.  #Sam Hill# led the way for the Panthers getting two home runs on the day.  The sophomore got four hits and five RBI's in five at bats in the game.

#Michael McCalib# got the win in five innings.  He gave up nine hits and struck out six in 24 batters-faced.  The Panthers outhit the Pride 16-11 in the game.  Each team had one error.

In game two the Panthers held on to the 1-0 lead into the sixth inning.  Hill collected the only RBI for the Panthers in the game, and his sixth of the day, in the third.  He drove in #Rand Hutchison# with a single to center.

Greensboro finally got on the board in the sixth putting up all three of their runs in their final at-bat.  The Panthers were unable to answer in the seventh, and since the double-header was scheduled as two seven-inning games, there was no time left to come back.

The Panthers return to the Hilltop with a 28-11 record on the season.  Their 10-5 record in conference play earned them a share of the East Division title even though they were ineligible for post-season play.
