GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Birmingham-Southern baseball team closed out its most successful season since joining Division III this afternoon with a split against Greensboro College. The Panthers won game one 11-4 before falling in game two 3-1. BSC finishes the season with a 28-11 record, besting last season's mark by eight games.
The Panthers put runs up in five of game one's seven innings to take the first game of the double-header. #Sam Hill# led the way for the Panthers getting two home runs on the day. The sophomore got four hits and five RBI's in five at bats in the game.
#Michael McCalib# got the win in five innings. He gave up nine hits and struck out six in 24 batters-faced. The Panthers outhit the Pride 16-11 in the game. Each team had one error.
In game two the Panthers held on to the 1-0 lead into the sixth inning. Hill collected the only RBI for the Panthers in the game, and his sixth of the day, in the third. He drove in #Rand Hutchison# with a single to center.
Greensboro finally got on the board in the sixth putting up all three of their runs in their final at-bat. The Panthers were unable to answer in the seventh, and since the double-header was scheduled as two seven-inning games, there was no time left to come back.
The Panthers return to the Hilltop with a 28-11 record on the season. Their 10-5 record in conference play earned them a share of the East Division title even though they were ineligible for post-season play.
