Baseball returns to the diamond for fall practice

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. The Panther Baseball Team returns to friendly confines of Striplin Field this week as they begin practices for the fall semester.

The Panthers have 36 student-athletes participating in fall practice led by second-year Head Coach Jan Weisberg, assisted by Drew Briese and Tyler Shrout.  This year’s squad welcomes 12 first-year players who are looking to help build upon a successful 2008 season.

“It's very exciting to get back out on the field,” said Weisberg. “We have a lot of things to accomplish over the next few weeks but it is feels good to back out there coaching.”

BSC is coming off a 20-win season last year in their inaugural year of NCAA Division III competition.

Fall practices continue through October 22 and will conclude with a Black and Gold Series.  The inter-squad dates are tentatively set for October 20th, 21st, and 22nd and are open to the public.
