#16 Panthers' streak continues, 15-5 over Mid-Continent

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Panthers continued their 14 game winning-streak at home today against the Mid-Continent Cougars, winning 15-5 in eight innings.

BSC (14-1) never trailed against the NAIA Cougars (5-9), scoring four runs in the bottom of the eighth to end the game with the ten-run-rule.

#Brian Higginbotham# got the Panthers on the board early with a long shot over the left field wall to put BSC up 2-0. The Cougars answered with one run in the top half of the fourth, but a pair of singles in the bottom half put BSC up 3, 4-1.

Mid-Continent pulled to within one run again, 3-4 in the fifth thanks to a two run shot by Cory Bowling. The Panthers answered with six runs in the home half to put the game firmly out of reach. #Bruce Maxwell# drove in three single-handedly with a home run off the top of the netting in right. It was just one of eight Panther hits in the inning. #Brandon Ricco# doubled in the first run of the inning, #John Lawroski# doubled a run in and #J.D. Hulse# singled in the Panthers’ tenth run before the Cougars could retire the side.

The Panthers ended the game in the bottom of the eighth after three singles plated four more runs to push the lead to the game-ending ten runs.

#Jesse Meier# went four innings in the start, getting his third win of the season.  The Panther hurlers gave up eight hits on the day, with one BSC error, compared to 19 hits for BSC with three Cougar errors.

BSC will return to the diamond tomorrow evening as they host LaGrange College for a 6:30 p.m. start.
