MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The BSC baseball team gave up six runs and the lead in the bottom of the fifth to drop their fourth game of the season, 8-6, at Huntington tonight.
The Panthers (16-4) scored three runs in the top of the first. A #Josh Whitaker# hit coupled with a Huntingdon (21-5) error allowed the first two runs to score and #Bruce Maxwell# doubled in the third before the Hawks came up to bat.
The Hawks got two runs back in the third and fourth, but the Panthers answered in the top of the fifth with two runs of their own to regain the three-run lead. Once again the runs were unearned thanks to two more Huntingdon errors.
The problems came in the bottom half of the inning. The Hawks posted six runs on four hits to take their first lead of the game at 8-5. Though the Panthers scored again in the seventh off a #Brian Higginbotham# single up the middle, they were unable to regain the lead in the final two innings.
The Panthers will look to bounce back from the loss this weekend as they travel up to Sewanee to face the Tigers in their second SCAC series. Game one is scheduled for Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
