Panthers take game one at Sewanee, game two called for darkness
SEWANEE, Tenn. – The BSC Panthers defeated Sewanee 16-4 in game one of today’s double header. Game two was postponed in the middle of the ninth inning due to darkness and will be completed tomorrow.
The Panthers (17-4, 3-1 SCAC) scored nine unanswered runs in the first four innings before the Tigers could get on the board as ‘Southern cruised to the game one victory. Leading by more than ten at the end of the seventh inning, the game was called there.
#Brandon Ricco# led the Panthers offensively with four hits on the day, including a double and three singles. The junior drove in four runs in five at-bats. #Bruce Maxwell# was right behind Ricco with three runs driven-in in three trips to the plate.
#John Naramore# collected his fifth win of the season in six innings pitched, giving up one run on ten hits with three walks and five strikeouts. #Drew Crofton# pitched the seventh inning for BSC, allowing three runs on three hits.
The Panthers racked up 16 runs on 18 hits and had a clean defensive day with no errors. The Tigers scored their four runs on 13 hits with four defensive miscues.
Game two will be completed before the beginning of tomorrow’s scheduled single game. Play is scheduled to resume at 1:00 p.m.
