Maxwell's walk-off homer gives Panthers 15-5 win at Rickwood
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Bruce Maxwell drilled a deep shot over the left field wall at Rickwood Field tonight to seal the Panthers' 15-5 win over Loyola.
The freshman's three-run shot capped a good night offensively for 'Southern. The Panthers (20-4) scored in all but one frame in tonight's win over the Wolfpack (9-15). BSC connected 15 times for those 15 runs and edged Loyola with 2 errors to the Wolfpack's three. Loyola scored their five on nine hits.
Loyola struck first in the top of the first off a single to right, plating one, but the Panthers answered in the bottom half with two of their own and never looked back. #Bruce Maxwell# led the team in RBIs tonight with five total, including the three run blast to win the game. He was certainly not alone as eight other Panthers added runs to the board for 'Southern.
#Jesse Meier# went five innings in his fourth win of the season. The sophomore allowed five Wolfpack hits for three runs with two walks and three strikeouts. #Anthony Bianchi# came in for the last two innings allowing two runs on four hits with three walks and two strikeouts.
The Panthers and Wolfpack will meet again tomorrow afternoon, this time back at Striplin Field, for a 3:00 p.m. start.
