BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The No. 9 Birmingham-Southern baseball team rebounded from its Sunday loss against Berry College with a 7-0 shutout of Emory & Henry College this afternoon at Striplin Field.
The Panthers move to 13-2 on the season, while the Wasps fall to 0-10.
BSC scored its first run in the bottom of the second on a home run by sophomore Bruce Maxwell. The Panthers added three more in the bottom of the fourth on an RBI double by senior Drew Leachman and RBI singles by senior Bryan Higginbotham and freshman Jeremy Hatley.
The Panthers added their final three runs in the bottom of the fifth on two-RBI single by Leachman and an RBI single by junior Jon Walker.
Senior Drew Crofton started on the mound for BSC and threw three innings, giving up three hits with four strikeouts. Freshman Lewis Hammond came in for the following two innings and struck out three batters, followed by sophomore Blake Yance, freshman Miles Nordgren, senior Alex Goodsell, and senior Brooks Webb with one inning each. Nordgren recorded three strikeouts and Webb recorded one.
BSC is back in action tomorrow against Hampden-Sydney College at 3:30 p.m. at Striplin Field.
