BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Birmingham-Southern's Bruce Maxwell has been drafted by the Oakland A's in the 2012 Major League Baseball Draft. He was selected as the second pick of the second round, or 62nd overall, and is BSC's highest-ever draft pick in program history.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The BSC Baseball team wraps up its fall practice season this week with the annual Black & Gold Series. In game one Tuesday night, the Gold team, coached by 2011 BSC grad and current Minnesota Twin Drew Leachman, defeated the Black team, coached by former Panther Trey Brown, 11-1.
