Panthers ranked 23rd in Collegiate Baseball Preseason Poll

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The Birmingham-Southern baseball team has been ranked 23rd in the nation by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper heading into the 2012 season.

The Panthers went 30-9 last year, and were ranked as high as ninth in the nation by the same publication before ending the season at 22nd. BSC also won its third straight SCAC East Division title, but was in the final year of reclassifying from Division I to Division III and not yet eligible for post-season competition.

BSC opens the 2012 season Feb. 10 in Mount Berry, Ga., taking on Emory in a neutral-site game hosted by future Southern Athletic Association foe Berry College. The Panthers' first home games are slated for Feb. 24 and 25 against Covenant College at Striplin Field.
