SUWANEE, Ga.—Junior Bruce Maxwell has been named the SCAC Offensive Baseball Player-of-the-Week for games played Monday, March 19, through Sunday, March 25, the league office announced today.
Maxwell, a catcher/first baseman from Toney, Ala., helped lead Birmingham-Southern to a 5-0 record this week with two wins against Hendrix and three against Berry.
He led the Panther offense, going 10-15 (.667) at the plate with five doubles, two home runs, and eight RBI. He recorded a 1.267 slugging percentage, and was walked seven times and hit-by-pitch twice for an on-base average of .792.
Maxwell also led the team with 34 putouts on defense. In Saturday's doubleheader sweep of Berry, he was 6-8 with two home runs, three doubles, and six RBI.
The Panthers have won 13 straight games, one of the longest current streaks in Division III baseball, and stand at 18-5 on the season. They go on the road this week to face Emory and conference rival Rhodes before returning home on April 4 for another game against Emory at 6 p.m.
