Baseball moves to 17th in poll

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The Birmingham-Southern baseball team moved from 22nd to 17th in this week's Top 25.

The Panthers are 24-6 on the season and 9-0 in the SCAC, leading the East Division. BSC has won six straight games, and has won 19 of its last 20 games.

Junior Bruce Maxwell leads the nation in doubles (20), doubles per game (.67), slugging percentage (1.011), on-base percentage (.649), walks (36), and walks per game (1.2), is ranked second in the nation in batting average (.516) and total bases (96), and ranks fourth in the nation in home runs (9).

The BSC pitching staff owns a combined ERA of 2.67 with 229 strikeouts, and the Panthers as a whole are out-scoring their opponents 201-07 and out-hitting them 294-217.
