ATLANTA—The 17th-ranked Birmingham-Southern baseball team won twice today on the road, defeating Oglethorpe in Atlanta by the scores of 8-5 and 6-3.
The Panthers move to 27-6 overall and remain undefeated in the SCAC at 11-0, leading the East Division standings and looking for their fourth-straight division title.
In the first game, the Stormy Petrels went up 1-0 in the first, but the Panthers scored twice in the third courtesy of an error and an RBI from senior Jon Walker. OU took back the lead in the fourth inning, scoring four runs to go up 5-2. BSC cut it to 5-4 with two runs in the fifth, then scored the game-tying and go-ahead runs in the sixth on a home run by freshman David Bourbonnais and a sac-fly from junior Stephen Denton. The Panthers scored twice more in the top of the seventh for a final of 8-5.
Freshman Blake Stevens started on the mound and threw 3.1 innings, allowing five hits and three earned runs with two strikeouts. Sophomore Miles Nordgren threw the final 3.2 innings and got the win, moving to 5-1 after recording four strikeouts with no hits and no earned runs allowed.
