Baseball breaks into top 10 in national poll

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The Birmingham-Southern baseball team rose in the polls yet again this week, moving to ninth in the Collegiate Baseball poll, and 11th in the Top 25.

BSC finished the regular season at 31-7 overall and 14-1 in the SCAC. The Panthers enter this week's SCAC Championship as the top seed in the East Division, facing the third seed in the West, Dallas, on Thursday at 7 p.m. in Millington, Tenn.

So far this season, BSC has out-scored its opponents 265-130, and out-hit them 378-286. Junior Bruce Maxwell leads at the plate with a .500 average, 39 RBI, and 13 home runs.
