BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The Birmingham-Southern Baseball program has received a commitment from Tommy Allmon, who has completed his intent to enroll in the College and play for the Panthers next season.
Allmon is a left-handed pitcher and first baseman from Southaven, Miss. He has been the team captain at Desoto Central High School in both his junior and senior seasons and was a four-year letterman. As a junior, Allmon led the team in batting average, hits, and on-base percentage offensively, while pacing the team in number of strikeouts on the mound. He is a highly-decorated athlete, having been named to the All-Conference team as both a pitcher and at first base. The Memphis Commercial Appeal named him as a "Best of Preps" player during his junior campaign.
Allmon's accolades are not limited to the baseball diamond. He is a 4.0 student and is the valedictorian of his 2012 graduating class. Allmon is an active member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Mayor's Youth Council. He has also participated in numerous volunteer activities throughout the Memphis area.
"We are pleased to have Tommy on board for the next four years," Head Coach Jan Weisberg said. "He will have the opportunity to help the team on the mound and with his bat next year. He is an outstanding young man and will mesh nicely with the solid group of veterans who will return next season."
