BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Sophomore right-hander David Bourbonnais has been named the Southern Athletic Association Pitcher of the Week announced by the league office on Monday.
Bourbonnais went 3-0 with a 0.00 ERA, allowing one unearned run on two hits with 10 strikeouts while helping the Panthers to a 4-1 week. The Atlanta, Ga., native pitched two innings with three strikeouts and gave up an unearned run on two hits in a 9-4 win over LaGrange. He recorded two strikeouts in two scoreless innings and allowed only one hit in a 4-3 win over North Park University on Saturday. Bourbonnais got his third win of the week, allowing no runs on two hits with five strikeouts in a 2-1 win over Transylvania on Sunday. Bourbonnais also played shortstop, first base and designated hitter during the four-game stretch.
The Panthers 7-3 overall and welcomes SAA member Sewanee to Striplin Field for a doubleheader Saturday at 1 p.m.
