BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Junior David Bourbonnais has been named the Southern Athletic Association Baseball Player of the Week, the league office announced today.
Bourbonnais, a pitcher and infielder from Atlanta, helped BSC win the SAA regular season championship this past weekend. In game one against No. 27 Rhodes on Saturday, he was the closing pitcher, throwing the final two innings to get his fifth save of the season. Overall Bourbonnais made two appearances this week after pitching 1.1 innings against Covenant on Wednesday, allowing a total of four hits and one earned run with seven strikeouts. He also played offense for the Panthers, going 5-6 at the plate against Covenant and 8-13 (.615) overall over four games. Bourbonnais posted five RBI, a triple, and a stolen base as well. He also made 23 putouts with four assists on defense, playing first base when he was not pitching.
