No. 7 BSC falls to Barons, 8-0

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—In an intra-city exhibition game featuring two of Birmingham's most successful baseball programs, the Birmingham Barons defeated the Birmingham-Southern baseball team 8-0, Tuesday evening at Regions Field.

BSC, ranked seventh in the nation in NCAA Division III, recorded three hits in the game against the Barons, a double-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox.

Barons starter Frankie Montas went 5.0 shutout innings while scattering two hits with nine strikeouts. Sophomore Jack Rhodes, senior David Bourbonnais, and senior Brandon Marino picked up the Panthers' three hits of the game.

BSC travels to face Piedmont College tomorrow, April 8, at 6 p.m. EDT in Demorest, Ga. The Barons open the 2015 season on Thursday.
