BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Senior Blake Stevens earned his second straight D3baseball.com South Region Pitcher of the Year honor on Monday, and was joined on the All-Region Team by fellow seniors David Bourbonnais and Jacob Mayfield, it was announced today.
Stevens also landed a spot on the All-Region First Team, along with Bourbonnais, and Mayfield earned Second-Team honors. The trio helped the Panthers win their second straight Southern Athletic Association regular season title this year as well as a second-straight trip to the NCAA South Regional, where they fell to Emory in the final game of the tournament.
Stevens, a right-hander from Atlanta, Ga., repeated as SAA Pitcher of the Year this season as well as a First-Team All-Conference selection. He recorded 108 strikeouts, ranking him second in the nation, and posted an ERA of 1.70, which was fourth in the conference. He was selected as the BSC Male Athlete of the Year, and was also a D3baseball.com Preseason All-American and a CoSIDA Academic All-District selection.
Bourbonnais, a right-handed reliever from Atlanta, Ga., was also a D3baseball.com Preseason All-America selection and First-Team All-SAA. He had nine saves, ranking him seventh in the nation, with a 2.35 ERA.
Mayfield, a catcher from Gadsden, Ala., was also a D3baseball.com Preseason All-America pick and First-Team All-Conference selection. He led the league and ranks 18th in the nation with 52 RBIs, and was third in the nation with eight sacrifice flies. Mayfield hit .339 with a .994 fielding percentage. He was named BSC Man of the Year, and recently received the inaugural Alabama Sports Hall of Fame Scholar-Athlete Award.
