BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The Black team took game two of the annual Black and Gold series, 5-3, Tuesday evening to secure the best-of-three series victory.

Senior Kyle Royalty out-dueled junior Easton Fuller in what was a pitcher's battle through the first five innings. Royalty notched the win for Black with five innings pitched, giving up one run on two hits, while striking out two batters and walking two. Fuller also went five innings, allowing four hits, two earned runs, while striking out three batters and walking two.

The Gold team struck first with one run in the top of the second. Freshman catcher AJ Hunt led off the inning with a double to left field, and came in on a single from freshman Will Green. Those were the only two hits for the Gold that Royalty surrendered.

Fuller pitched very well, not allowing through the first four innings. In the fourth the Black team tied the game at 1-1. After Brayden Housel reached base on an error to lead off the fourth, he advanced to third on a deep line drive to right field off the bat of Jacob Drescher and then scored on a Matt Brown RBI groundout.

The Black team scored twice in the bottom of the fifth inning to take the lead for good. After a lead-off double from freshman first baseman Mason Englet, a walk and a single from sophomore Wallace Schmuck, Ross Anderson plated one run with an RBI groundout to score one. A two-out single from Schyler Chapman plated the second run of the inning, making it 3-1 Black.

Gold answered with a single run in the top of the sixth inning with back-to-back two-out doubles from outfielders Sam Roberts and Preston White.

Senior Miller Bonds pitched the final two innings to earn the save for the Black team. Black was led offensively by Schmuck who 2-3 with an RBI.
