    No. 1 Emory Holds off No. 4 Panthers Rally BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – No. 4 Birmingham-Southern baseball loaded the bases in the bottom of the ninth inning Wednesday night against No. 1 Emory University, but the Eagles held on for the 4-1 win. BSC moved to 14-4 with the loss. Emory is now 16-2 on the year.

    No. 4 BSC Baseball Wins 5-4 in Walk-off BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – No. 4 Birmingham-Southern baseball earned a 5-4 walk-off win against Oglethorpe University Saturday night after an hour and 45 minute rain delay pushed the start time back. BSC (14-3, 3-0 SAA) swept their series against the Stormy Petrels with the win.

    No. 4 Panthers Sweep SAA Season Opener BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The No. 4 Birmingham-Southern baseball team swept Oglethorpe University 7-4 and 5-2 to open Southern Athletic Association play 2-0 this season. The Panthers’ bullpen struck out 24 batters and gave up just six earned runs over the two games to help the team improve to 13-3 overall.

    Weisberg Gets 300th, No. 3 Panthers Sweep Day BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The No. 3 Birmingham-Southern baseball team gave Head Coach Jan Weisberg his 300th win at BSC with their two-game sweep Saturday, making him the fastest coach in program history to hit the mark. The Panthers defeated University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh 6-3 and then took down Transylvania 6-2 in the nightcap to improve to 11-3 on the year.

    Gaines, Roberts Named SAA Players of the Week BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Birmingham-Southern swept the weekly Southern Athletic Association honors this week. Ryan Gaines (Dunwoody, Ga./Dunwoody HS) and Sam Roberts (Johns Creek, Ga./Blessed Trinity) were named SAA Pitcher and Player of the Week for their performance February 20-26.

The Panthers used a big third inning to defeat Concordia (TX) 8-2 and improve to 5-1 on the year. BSC has now won three straight and are currently 2-0 at home.

    Big Ninth Inning Leads No. 5 Panthers Over LaGrange LAGRANGE, Ga. – The No. 5 Birmingham-Southern baseball team used a big ninth inning to pull out an 8-5 road win over LaGrange College Tuesday evening. With the score tied 5-5 after the seventh inning, the Panthers put up three runs in the top of the ninth to earn the win and improve to 3-1 overall on the year.

    Walk-off Single Downs No. 5 Panthers at Piedmont DEMOREST, Ga. – The No. 5 Birmingham-Southern baseball team dropped its first game of the season 4-3 Sunday evening on the road at Piedmont College. The Lions hit a two-out, walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth to earn the win. BSC is now 2-1 on the year. Piedmont moved to 4-1 overall.

The Panthers put up two runs in the first inning and one in the eighth to secure the win. Methodist dropped to 2-1 overall with the loss. BSC is now 1-0 on the year.

    Gaines Named Preseason First-Team All-American BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Senior Ryan Gaines (Dunwoody, Ga./Dunwoody HS) was named a Preseason First-Team All-America by D3baseball.com. Gaines was one of two Southern Athletic Association student-athletes to be recognized.

    Black Team Takes Series Opener 5-3 With Walk-Off BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Just off their four day, fall break trip to the Dominican Republic, the 2017 Birmingham-Southern baseball team got back on the field for the annual Black and Gold Series to wrap up fall practice. In game one of the Black and Gold Series, freshman Will Buser hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to propel the Black team to a 5-3 win.

    2012 National Player of the Year Makes MLB Debut BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Former Birmingham-Southern College Panther and 2012 ABCA/Rawlings and D3baseball.com National Player of the Year Bruce Maxwell, made his Major League Baseball debut on Saturday, July 23 for the Oakland Athletics. Maxwell was called up from Pacific Coast League Triple-A affiliate Nashville Sounds and pinch hit Saturday, before starting Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Rays.
