BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The No. 7-ranked Birmingham-Southern baseball team defeated No. 10 LaGrange College 10-6 in its home opener at Striplin Field on Tuesday night.
The Panthers scored six runs in the first inning, setting the tone and creating a cushion for BSC for the remainder of the game.

Freshman right-hander Tristan Harvin (Dothan, Ala./Houston Academy), who put in three and one-third innings, got the start and the win. Ross James (Cape Girardeau, Mo./Notre Dame HS), John Michael Shirley (Mobile, Ala./UMS-Wright Prep) and Richie Misischia (Dothan, Ala./Regis HS) all pitched in relief and shut down the LaGrange offense for the last five innings.
The Panthers will continue the home stretch on Saturday, Feb. 24 when BSC hosts a doubleheader against Wheaton. First pitch is scheduled for 11 a.m. at Striplin Field.
