BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern baseball team took the weekend series against Millsaps 2-1 with a 15-5 run-rule win over the Majors on Sunday afternoon.
The Panthers spread out the scoring with crooked numbers in the second, third, sixth and seventh innings. BSC scored four runs in the second and third innings and tagged on three runs in the sixth and seventh innings.
A cast of players contributed to the offensive production on Sunday. Richie Misischia (Dothan, Ala./Regis HS) was 2-for-2, drawing three walks and coming around to score four times. Designated hitter Ross Anderson (Section, Ala./Section HS) was also perfect at the plate, going 2-for-2 with a walk and a solo home run in the second.
Sophomore left-hander Hanan Mauldin (Florence, Ala./Florence HS) got the start and the win, throwing four strong innings, allowing two runs off four hits and striking out three batters. Mauldin record stands at 3-0 as a starter.
With the win, the Panthers improve to 14-10 overall and 6-6 in the Southern Athletic Association.
Birmingham-Southern will hit the road for its next five games. The Panthers will travel to Huntingdon for its next game on Tuesday, March 27 before going to Rhodes for a conference series March 30-31.
