MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern baseball team picked up a road win in a high-scoring 12-9 victory over Huntingdon College on Tuesday night.
Tied 9-9 heading into the top of the ninth inning, Dawson Pfost (Hickory Flat, Ga./Sequoyah HS) scored the go-ahead run on a throwing error by the Hawks. Richie Misischia (Dothan, Ala./Regis HS) and Brian Williams (Marietta, Ga./Lassiter HS) also came around to score, giving BSC two insurance runs.
Misischia came back out on the mound for the bottom of the ninth and struck out the side to pick up the win and give BSC its 15th victory of the year.
Designated hitter A.J. Hunt (Memphis, Tenn./Memphis University School) and third baseman Preston Munns (Marietta, Ga./Lassiter HS) led the Panthers on offense. Hunt was 2-for-2 with two walks and a team-high three RBIs. Munns finished 3-for-4 from the plate, crossing home three times and adding an RBI.
Birmingham-Southern will stay on the road for its next matchup, a three-game Southern Athletic Association series against Rhodes College. Game one of the series is set for Friday, March 30 at 1 p.m. with a doubleheader to follow on Saturday.
