BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern baseball team fell to Piedmont College 11-2 in its season finale at home on Tuesday night.
The Lions scored in all but three innings, and put up crooked numbers in the first, second and seventh innings.
BSC's two runs came in the first and second innings. Sophomore Will Toner (Atlanta, Ga./Marist HS) hit an RBI single in the first inning to give the Panthers their first run.
A Dawson Pfost (Hickory Flat, Ga./Sequoyah HS) sac bunt and a throwing error by Piedmont scored senior Wallace Schmuck (Fort Worth, Texas/Texas Military Institute) in the second inning to cap the scoring for Birmingham-Southern.
Senior Ross James (Cape Girardeau, Mo./Notre Dame Regional HS) got the start for BSC, pitching one inning and allowing two runs, putting him on the hook for the loss. Five other Panthers pitchers would make appearances in relief.
With the loss, Birmingham-Southern dropped to 22-18 in 2018.
