BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern baseball team shut out Wisconsin-Oshkosh 4-0 on Friday night, improving to 6-4 on the year.
The Panthers took the lead with a run in the bottom of the fifth and did not look back, adding two more runs in the sixth and capped the scoring with another run in the eighth inning.
Senior Jake Cook (Oxford, Ala./Oxford HS) got the start on the mound for the Panthers, pitching seven strong innings. He pitched a shutout and allowed just four hits and struck out eight through 25 batters faced. With his performance, Cook improved his record to 2-1 this season.
Offensively, the Panthers were led by Cole Steadman (Birmingham, Ala./Briarwood Christian), who accounted for three of BSC's four runs. He was 3-of-5 from the plate with two runs scored and an RBI.
Birmingham-Southern will face UW-Oshkosh again at Striplin Field on Saturday, March 2 at 2:30 p.m. before facing Adrian College in the nightcap at approximately 5:30 p.m.
