Drew Briese joined the Birmingham-Southern baseball staff in September of 2006. His coaching responsibilities include coaching hitters, catchers and managing the BSC Baseball strength and conditioning program.  He also serves as the 3rd base coach.

In 5 years at BSC, Briese has seen his catching staff earn All-Conference honors each and every year.  Sam Hill was a four year All-SCAC performer from 2008-2011 (including being named 2008 SCAC Freshman of the Year).  Bruce Maxwell carried the torch to 2012, when he was named NCAA DIII National Player of the Year, SCAC Player of the Year and was a 2nd round draft pick by the Oakland A's.  

Briese came to the Hilltop after a year as an Assistant Coach at Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky. He started his coaching career at Paul Laurence Dunbar High School in Lexington, Kentucky while he was working toward his Master's Degree. He received his Master's Degree in Kinesiology and Health Promotion from the University of Kentucky in 2005.

Briese attended Centre College in Danville, Kentucky. He started for the Centre team that broke the school record for wins in 1997 and was named to the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Academic Honor Roll in 1999. He also earned the honors of Team Captain (2000). Briese earned a B.A. degree in history from Centre College in 2000.

Briese and his wife Rachel have 3 children, Jack (9), Kate (5), and Finley (2).
