Nathan Bland joined the Panther Baseball Staff in 2009 as BSC's Pitching Coach. The Birmingham native graduated from Mountain Brook High School in 1993 and was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 4th round. Bland played for several MLB organizations, including the Chicago Cubs, San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Angles. He made his MLB debut in 2003 with the Houston Astros. Bland's baseball experiences have a taken him far and wide as he has played professionally in Mexico, Taiwan and Venezuela.

In each of Bland’s 3 seasons with the Panthers, his staff led the SCAC is ERA.  This includes the 2012 staff, which posted a 3.03 ERA, ranking them 18th in the nation.  Ten members of Bland’s staff have received All Conference Honors in the last 3 years.  Including among this group is 2011 SCAC Pitcher of the Year, Clay Malcolm, and 2012 SCAC Freshman of the Year, Blake Stevens.  Additionally, performances by Blake Yance and Miles Nordgren during the 2012 season earned All-America honors. 

Bland recently completed his degree at the University of Alabama-Birmingham (UAB) and is currently enrolled in graduate school. Nathan and his wife, Allison have two children, Lorelai (7) and Jack (5).
