Nathan Bland joined the Panther Baseball Staff in 2009 as BSC's pitching coach. The Birmingham native graduated from Mountain Brook High School in 1993 and was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 4th round. Bland played for several MLB organizations, including the Chicago Cubs, San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Angels. He made his MLB debut in 2003 with the Houston Astros. Bland's baseball experiences have a taken him far and wide as he has played professionally in Mexico, Taiwan and Venezuela.

Bland has coached multiple conference pitchers of the year including All-American Miles Nordgren, and all-region selection Ryan Gaines.  In 2016, his bullpen ranked 11th nationally in earned run average with a Southern Athletic Association best 3.05 ERA.

Bland completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Alabama-Birmingham (UAB).  He and his wife, Allison have two children, Lorelai and Jack.
